SUMMARY:Bands on the Bay: James Gray
DESCRIPTION:Bands on the Bay: Free Summer ConcertsHeld outside on our fully licensed deck or inside in case of rain\, performances start at 7:00pm (unless stated otherwise). A free concert overlooking the bay: this is The Thing To Do on a summer Tuesday evening! \n\n\n\nAbout the performer:James Gray is a contemporary version of an old-school travelling folk singer. Over the years he has been criss-crossing Canada\, Europe and Australia in pursuit of seeing the world and entertaining folks along the way. James now has ten tours on three different continents under his belt and is just getting started. \n\n\n\nGray resides in a small cabin in the rural setting of Muskoka Ontario where he grew up. James loves the serenity and quiet of living in nature. On the flip side of the coin he is driven by touring and ventures out into new territory every chance he gets. \n\n\n\nJames’ songwriting is inspired by the idea of being able to speak to the human condition through the creation and delivery of song. He highly regards songwriters such as John Prine\, Townes Van Zandt\, Damien Jurado and Sarah Harmer. Gray believes these songwriters have honed the ability to teach the listener about themselves and to open up a part of the listener that they didn’t know already existed. He feels this is the ultimate goal of being a songwriter. \n\n\n\njamesgraymusic.ca

SUMMARY:Festival of the Sound's Bands on the Bay: The Fretless
DESCRIPTION:Four ferocious players\, masterful composition\, and a genre-bending sound — Juno award-winning The Fretless is a Canadian quartet that has firmly taken its place on the map to a progressive form of “trad”. Free-to-the-public on the scenic deck of The Stockey Centre\, this is a perfect family evening. \n\n\n\nA supergroup of celebrated solo artists\, The Fretless has been creating a singular and signature sound that dares to expand the idea of what a string music quartet can be—transforming fiddle tunes and folk melodies into intricate\, beautiful\, high-energy arrangements that have quickly gained a dedicated following and accolades from around the world. Within what appears to be a simple construct — two fiddles\, a viola\, and a cello — The Fretless has created a sound that is distinctly rich\, multi-layered\, and uniquely percussive. This tonal quality is pushing traditional music to new heights\, producing a completely fresh approach to Folk music.

SUMMARY:Bands on the Bay: Hayley Stark
DESCRIPTION:Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound presents Bands on the Bay: Free Summer Concerts\n\n\n\nA free concert overlooking the bay? This is The Thing To Do on a summer Tuesday evening! Performances are held outside on our bayside deck\, or inside in case of rain from June to August. Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound will be on-site selling pizza\, accompanied by The Stockey Centre’s licensed cash bar. \n\n\n\nAbout The Band: \n\n\n\nSeparated at birth\, Monica Julie and Jennifer Bryan\, front-women vocalist/guitarists of Toronto-based punk pop band Hayley Stark were reunited in their early 20s in a seedy rehearsal space in downtown Toronto. Both were auditioning to be full-time members (Monica on drums\, Jen on lead guitar) of all-girl metal band Spank driven. Little did the ladies know that their fates were sealed at that point – they were destined to play music together for many years to come – and luckily none of their bands would have so ridiculous a name as Spank driven ever again. Eventually Monica(a former metal drummer turned songstress) and Jen (a jazz-trained guitarist with a love of the rock) would create Hayley Stark\, an amalgamation of all of their musical and emotional loves and desires. Hayley Stark performs as both an acoustic duo and also bounces around on stage with a high-energy rhythm section. With a hint of 90s alternative rock\, pop/punk energy\, and diva-esque vocals\, Hayley Stark songs tackle the everyday complexities of life…and the fun bits too. Especially the fun bits. \n\n\n\nFacebook

SUMMARY:Bands on the Bay: The Maple Hill Project
DESCRIPTION:Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound presents Bands on the Bay: Free Summer Concerts\n\n\n\nA free concert overlooking the bay? This is The Thing To Do on a summer Tuesday evening! Performances are held outside on our bayside deck\, or inside in case of rain from June to August. Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound will be on-site selling pizza\, accompanied by The Stockey Centre’s licensed cash bar. \n\n\n\nAbout The Band: \n\n\n\nIndividually\, the members of the Maple Hill Project have a long history of making music in North Bay.  \n\n\n\nPat O’Kane started playing at The Lion’s Heart pub in the mid ’80s. Mark Robinson was inspired by Pat and also began playing there and other venues like Churchill’s\, Perry’s and Casey’s. In 1991\, they teamed up to form the duo Guys Without Ties. They have been regulars in the North Bay scene since then.  Pat is also part of MLC.  \n\n\n\nRobin Bilan is known for his mastery of the keyboards.  He has been a vital part of bands like Syntax Error\, Blackwater\, Beyond Country\, Checkerboard\, Transit\, The Hit Men and That ’70s Group.  In 2010 he teamed up with Mark to form Two Day’s Notice.  \n\n\n\nRob Aultman is a great guitar and mandolin player.  He was a regular guest of Guys Without Ties and added a lot with his soaring harmonies. Doug Herbrand was a hidden gem.  His amazing tenor voice and guitar playing were under appreciated until now. \n\n\n\nIn 2013\, these five came together for the first time at a house party on Maple Hill Road in Powassan ON.  Their musical chemistry with tight vocal harmonies was quickly apparent.  They couldn’t get enough\, so in February of 2014 The Maple Hill Project was born. \n\n\n\nIt has been a labour of love ever since. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook

SUMMARY:Ribfest Bands on the Bay: Cabin Fever
DESCRIPTION:Visit us at (https://stockeycentre.com/event/ribfest-2023/) for the full schedule for our Three Day Ribfest Parry Sound and Canada Day Celebrations from June 30th to July 2nd! \n\n\n\nJoin us for a free concert at The Stockey Centre as a part of Ribfest Parry Sound! \n\n\n\nAbout The Band: \n\n\n\nDesperately yearning for their Northern roots\, this southwestern Ontario alternative folk/roots duo often finds themselves pining over poplars and birch. They plant these feelings in a forest of incandescent guitar\, heart-pounding upright bass\, and howling vocals that will speak to the hearts of all who stop to listen. Through happenstance and sharing tales of their respective journeys living amongst the forests and lakes of La Ronge\, Saskatchewan\, and Muskoka\, Ontario\, Cabin Fever was formed in the fall of 2019 around a campfire in the unlikely locale of Camlachie\, Ontario\, next to the sparkling and unpredictable blue waters of Lake Huron.Known for captivatingly tight harmonies\, Jess and Kyle have journeyed on as a duo since the summer of 2021\, showcasing compelling style and versatility from the festival stage to intimate house concerts. They have a unique ability to spin performances that are tactfully rugged yet wistful and alluring as they draw in their audiences with dynamic storytelling through song and quick-witted banter. Come along as they take you from a meandering paddle across a lake of glass to the thundering of the herds crossing the Great Plains. Settle in with a cup of cocoa (or something a little stronger) and sit around the fire as Cabin Fever warms your soul and rekindles your wanderlust. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook

\n\n\n\nAbout James: \n\n\n\nJames Gray is a contemporary version of an old-school traveling folk singer. Over the years James has been crisscrossing Canada\, Europe and Australia in pursuit of seeing the world and entertaining folks along the way. James now has ten tours on three different continents under his belt and is just getting started. \n\n\n\nA unique finger style guitarist\, with a vocal that is hauntingly beautiful\, Gray\, often accompanied by a rather droll\, humorous stage patter\, immerses himself in each and every song with a soulfulness and attack that is infectious and disarming. With a broad grin and good natured chuckle\, Gray will often smile into the microphone and state matter of factly that he wants you to remember who he is. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook

DESCRIPTION:Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound presents Bands on the Bay: Free Summer Concerts\n\n\n\nA free concert overlooking the bay? Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound will be on-site selling pizza\, accompanied by The Stockey Centre’s licensed cash bar. \n\n\n\nAbout The Band: \n\n\n\nA Short Walk to Pluto is what would happen if Alanis Morissette joined Rush! Formed in 2018\, comprising members Emma Armstrong (lead vocals)\, Max Kaiser (lead guitar)\, Danny Moriana (bass guitar\, backing vocals)\, and Jake Biggs (drums and percussion)\, the band has developed a tremendous social media presence through Tik Tok and Instagram\, where they regularly debut original music and covers of well-known classics. It was through that online presence that the band was discovered and recently endorsed by Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show. Though much of their success is owed to their social media engagement\, it is their genre-defying original music and energetic live performances (most notably at Ottawa BluesFest 2022) that have generated a loyal\, consistent\, and far reaching following. The band currently has over 700K followers on social media and 8 original music releases to date. This young and professional-sounding foursome is prepared to deliver a show that concert goers will remember for a lifetime. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook
