SUMMARY:Matt Andersen
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: This event was originally scheduled for February 1st\, 2024. Due to unforeseen circumstances\, the Matt Andersen show with special guest Terra Lightfoot has been rescheduled for April 9\, 2024. All tickets purchased for the February 1\, 2024 show will be valid for April 9\, 2024. Our Box Office is currently contacting all ticket holders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen Matt Andersen steps on stage\, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album\, The Big Bottle of Joy\, is all about hard-won celebration; a dozen songs infused with raw blues-rock\, rollicking Americana\, thoughtful folk\, and ecstatic gospel. Andersen’s stage presence is informed by decades of cutting his teeth in dusty clubs\, dim-lit bars\, and grand theatres all over the world\, delivering soulful performances that run the gamut from intimate to wall-shaking. In the studio\, he’s always brought the same attention to detail and commitment to craft as he has to his live show\, and the result – a multi-faceted and poignant body of work – has led him to amass over 28 million streams on Spotify and 26 million views on YouTube. \n\n\n\nIn addition to headlining major festivals\, clubs and theatres throughout North America\, Europe\, and Australia\, he has shared the stage and toured with Marcus King\, Beth Hart\, Marty Stuart\, Greg Allman\, Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Randy Bachman\, Serena Ryder\, Tab Benoit\, and more. \n\n\n\nAndersen nabbed the 2013 and 2016 European Blues Awards for Best Solo/Acoustic Act\, was the first ever Canadian to take home top honours in the solo category at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis\, won the CIMA Road Gold award in 2015\, and has won multiple Maple Blues Awards. \n\n\n\nTickets are $69.95 + HST. Tickets go on sale on Friday December 8th at 10am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWITH OPENING ACT: TERRA LIGHTFOOT \n\n\n\nDrop the needle on Healing Power\, the bright\, bold new album from acclaimed Canadian recording artist Terra Lightfoot\, and you won’t be surprised to learn that it was inspired at high altitude. The album’s cover photo sets the scene — a striking European larch at the edge of the timberline\, high above a grassy plateau\, Limestone Alps rising in the distance like a dream just out of reach. Alone in Austria\, just ahead of a string of solo European dates\, and just a third of the way into a sprawling world tour\, Lightfoot found herself on a mountain-top beneath that tree\, singing and playing guitar\, touching grass and drilling into the depths of her emotions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShe was surrounded by flowers yellow and blue\, and though Lightfoot herself has been given her share of flowers — a pair of JUNO nominations\, a long-list Polaris nod\, lead single “Paradise” soundtracking the CBC’s first 2018 Winter Olympics wrap — the strain of nearly three years of steady roadwork was eroding the ground under her feet. The tree ultimately became emblematic of the next chapter of Lightfoot’s artistic journey as well as the unassuming cover star of her sixth album. \n\n\n\n“The story\,” Lightfoot says\, “is that everything comes back around. It was my idea to call the record Healing Power\, and I thought of the most healing place that I knew in the world. That tree taught me about perseverance. It was the only tree living at that altitude. It just kept growing. And I knew I had to be like that too: just to keep growing and changing.” \n\n\n\nHealing Power is further evidence of Lightfoot’s ability to do just that. To describe her decade-plus musical evolution as astonishing is something of an understatement. Along the way\, Lightfoot’s marathon tours have touched down in eight countries across four continents (including support slots for Bruce Cockburn\, Blue Rodeo\, Toad the Wet Sprocket\, The Posies\, The Sheepdogs\, and Willie Nelson). She also conceived\, created\, curated\, produced and co-headlined The Longest Road Show\, an all-female touring revue. In October 2020\, Lightfoot released Consider the Speed\, recorded by Grammy-winning producer Jay Newland at Memphis’ legendary Royal Studios. In early 2022\, Lightfoot launched her own label\, Midnight Choir\, with a cover of Leadbelly’s “Where Did you Sleep Last Night?” and fan-favourite original composition\, “Sleepyhead”\, covered by Sarah Blackwood of Walk Off The Earth. \n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS ONLINE HERE \n\n\n\nTickets can also be purchased during our business hours by calling our Box Office at 705-746-4466 extension 405 or visiting us at 2 Bay Street\, Parry Sound.

SUMMARY:THE STAMPEDERS …. One More Time
DESCRIPTION:From Kim & Rich: \n\n\n\nThe show must go on…Ronnie wouldn’t have it any other way. It is with sadness and love that we must announce the passing of our longtime friend and bandmate Ronnie King. The tour that was intended to be his final bow will now\, instead\, be our tribute to\, and celebration of\, our beautiful friend and partner. We’ve asked bassist Dave Chobot to join us on this final run. It will be an evening filled with our classic hits\, delivered with love….One More Time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘They’re on their way\, to the city lights’ … and\, THE predominant Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll band of the 1970s – The Stampeders – are bringing along all their classic hits: Wild Eyes\, Carry Me\, Oh My Lady\, Devil You\, Monday Morning Choo Choo\, Minstrel Gypsy\, Hit the Road Jack and\, of course\, the quintessential Canadian – and Hall of Fame – song\, Sweet City Woman! A veritable soundtrack to a whole generation that will ‘carry you home’ … maybe not to Birmingham … but back to a time of tie-dyed t-shirts and elevator shoes\, 15¢ coffee and homemade apple pie\, dating and dreaming … By the time The Stampeders get to the first chorus of the first song\, everyone will be singing along. \n\n\n\nNo seventies group represented Canada’s musical identity to the world like The Stampeders. A quick look at Canada’s music scene from 1971 until 1976 confirms The Stampeders were truly the country’s international musical ambassadors\, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time.  In 1977 the trio: Rich Dodson (lead guitar)\, Kim Berly (drums) and Ronnie King (bass) parted company but reunited\, fittingly at the Calgary Stampede\, 15 years later in 1992. Since then they’ve been recognized by SOCAN for their Lifetime Achievement\, been inducted into the SOCAN Songwriters Hall of Fame on five occasions and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their 1971 seminal hit Sweet City Woman. \n\n\n\nThe enduring musical legacy of The Stampeders  … One More Time … ‘better catch a noon train\, better get there for a rock ‘n’ rolling good time!’ \n\n\n\nTickets go on sale to Stockey Members on Tuesday November 28th at noon and on sale to the public on Friday December 1st at 10am. Tickets are $79.50 + HST each. \n\n\n\nTo become a Stockey Member\, you can visit us on our Membership page for more information and to purchase online\, give us a call at 705-746-4466 extension 405\, or visit us at 2 Bay Street\, Parry Sound. \n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS ONLINE HERE \n\n\n\nTickets can also be purchased during our business hours by calling our Box Office at 705-746-4466 extension 405 or visiting us at 2 Bay Street\, Parry Sound.
