DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Holiday Season with the Orillia Silver Band! \n\n\n\nSleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert \n\n\n\nThe Orillia Silver Band celebrates the holiday season with its traditional Sleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert.  The concert takes place on Sunday\, December 01\, 2024\, 2:00 pm at the Charles W. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a holiday concert with Terry Little and The Rhythm Boys\, with special Guests ‘The Tarvelles’! \n\n\n\nSponsored by John & Donna McGill \n\n\n\nTerry Little and The Rhythm Boys have played music for Cruise Ships (including the Pearl Mist and Victory 2 out of Chicago) for four summers.  The band has played at The Annual Autumn Fiddle Fest for thirteen years at The Charles W. Stockey Centre and have played for local long-term care homes and local fairs for many years. \n\n\n\nTerry Little himself has played Fiddle all his life.  He’s competed at many fiddle contests throughout Ontario and has won many awards (including The Parry Sound District Fiddle Championship) and was inducted into The Northern Ontario Country Music Association in Sault St. Marie. He started playing the fiddle for square dances sixty-four years ago and has two albums with some of his own compositions. He has conducted The Autumn Fiddle Fest each year at The Stockey Centre and brought many top-notch fiddlers and step dancers to the event.  He was named to the Order of Parry Sound for enriching the lives of people in the Parry Sound District. \n\n\n\nThe Tarvelles consists of Paul and Melika Lemelin.  Paul has won many first places at fiddling contests all across Ontario and beyond. He has won first many times in The Open Class Grand Master’s in Canada.  Melika plays piano and has played backup for fiddle contests across Ontario. She has won piano contests in both Ontario and in the U.S.A.  \n\n\n\nTickets are $34.95 + HST each. SUMMARY:Orillia Silver Band: Sleigh Bells & Brass
DESCRIPTION:The Orillia Silver Band returns to Parry Sound for its 14th Annual Sleigh Bells & Brass Christmas Concert.  The concert takes place on Sunday\, December 2\, 2018\, 2:00 pm at the Stockey Centre.  The Band is donating $2 for every adult ticket ($1 for student/child ticket) to the Rotary Club Christmas Hampers Program. \nThe Silver Band is also pleased to welcome a Children’s Choir from Parry Sound Public School as its Special Guest.  Under the direction of teacher Kelly Crowhurst\, the choir will offer seasonal carols and perform a special medley with the Band. \nThe concert will feature both new and traditional music of the season\, with ample opportunity to sing your favourite carols.  Among the items to be performed during the Christmas concert this year are Alfred Reed’s beautiful Russian Christmas Music (a real showcase for festive percussion); the exciting Gaudete! by Kevin Norbury – based upon an ancient French carol; and a perennial holiday favourite – Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival. \nAnd if that’s not enough\, the Band will be selling a new Christmas CD at the Concert.  Christmas Time is Here with the Orillia Silver Band was recorded last March at St. James’ Anglican Church in Orillia.  The CD features both new and classic Christmas works that have proved popular at the Band’s Christmas events.  The title track\, from “A Charlie Brown Christmas“\, was written by the great American jazz pianist\, Vince Guaraldi.  For fans of traditional holiday carols\, An English Christmas by Philip Sparke and A Christmas Fantasy by Gordon Langford will appeal.  The modern Christmas classic O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen is included on the album.  A towering classic for brass band at Christmas\, The Kingdom Triumphant by Eric Ball\, appears on the CD as well.  The CD will be on sale for $15.00.  So plan to start your Christmas shopping early; it will make a great stocking stuffer for music lovers. \nAdults $20\, Children/Students $10
