SUMMARY:2nd Annual Mental Health Symposium - Flourishing Kids\, Connected Parents
DESCRIPTION:The mental health symposium is designed for professionals\, teachers\, parents\, community members… EVERYONE! \n\n\n\nThis special event is designed to leave you feeling EMPOWERED\, VALIDATED\, INSPIRED\, and MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE about mental health as we embrace the efforts this community is taking to become a beacon of mental health well-being in the north. \n\n\n\nIn this presentation\, Dr. Clinton will share her knowledge and expertise with families on how through compassion\, connection\, and hope\, we can create the conditions for our children to flourish and thrive at all times\, including when challenges arise. \n\n\n\nThis event is free or by donation\, with general seating. Seats are first come\, first served. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMEET THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER: \n\n\n\nDr. Jean Clinton is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University\, Division of Child Psychiatry\, in Ontario\, Canada. From 2014 to 2018\, she served as an education advisor to the Premier of Ontario and the Minister of Education. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Clinton is a trainer in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model in Education (NME). She collaborates closely with Michael Fullan and his New Pedagogies for Deep Learning team. She serves as a member of the MindUP Scientific Advisory Board and as a MindUp for Families advisor. Dr. Clinton was a Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy and has been a Zero to Three Academy Fellow since 2013. \n\n\n\nFor over 35 years\, Dr. Clinton has been a consultant to children and youth mental health programs\, child welfare\, and primary care. She has a keen interest in brain development and the crucial role that relationships\, belonging\, and connectedness play. \n\n\n\nDr. Clinton believes in a compassionate\, competency-based learning system that fosters deep learning and relational focus. She advocates for an education that enriches both learning and life\, leading to a better\, sustainable world. \n\n\n\nDr. Clinton has authored her first book\, Love Builds Brains. \n\n\n\nMore information on the event is available here: https://www.soundyouthcounselling.ca/symposium
