DESCRIPTION:The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star\, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor\, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After becoming a quadriplegic\, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries\, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care — all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family. Seats are first come\, first served. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMEET THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER: \n\n\n\nDr. Jean Clinton is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University\, Division of Child Psychiatry\, in Ontario\, Canada. From 2014 to 2018\, she served as an education advisor to the Premier of Ontario and the Minister of Education. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Clinton is a trainer in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model in Education (NME). She collaborates closely with Michael Fullan and his New Pedagogies for Deep Learning team. She serves as a member of the MindUP Scientific Advisory Board and as a MindUp for Families advisor. Dr. Clinton was a Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy and has been a Zero to Three Academy Fellow since 2013. \n\n\n\nFor over 35 years\, Dr. Clinton has been a consultant to children and youth mental health programs\, child welfare\, and primary care. She has a keen interest in brain development and the crucial role that relationships\, belonging\, and connectedness play. \n\n\n\nDr. Clinton believes in a compassionate\, competency-based learning system that fosters deep learning and relational focus. This is The Thing To Do on a summer Tuesday evening! Performances are held outside on our bayside deck\, or inside in case of rain from June to August. Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound will be on-site selling pizza\, accompanied by The Stockey Centre’s licensed cash bar. \n\n\n\nPretty Low Key is a group of local lads that love playing acoustic roots\, celtic and Canadiana music. The four piece outfit is fronted by Mark Macfie on fiddle\, lead vocals and guitar. Mark was a touring member of the world famous Sunny Slope Bootleggers for 8 years and brings a familiar presence. Filling out the rest of the band are Steve McDowall on guitar and vocals\, Sunny Slope’s own Russ Whitmell on string bass and vocals\, and Mark Palmer on Cajon\, percussion and vocals.

The band formed in 2018 from a collection of rock and blues loving musicians who met through the local music scene.  Influenced by the great sounds of Tom Petty\, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton amongst others\, their unique brand of entertainment fuses incredible guitars and a tight rhythm section with audience interaction and witty stage banter that will make you want to dance and sing all night. Winners of The Barrie Advance Reader’s Choice Award 2020 – Best Local Band \, they have opened for the likes of The Northern Pikes\, Sass Jordan\, Kim Mitchell\, Rik Emmett and Honeymoon Suite.

DESCRIPTION:500 Days in the Wild\, an independent documentary film which follows filmmaker Dianne Whelan’s 6-year journey to complete all 16\,000 miles of the land and water trails across North America on the world’s longest trail. The 2-hour documentary weaves together adventure\, personal reflections\, stunning wildlife\, and human connection on the rigorous and beautiful TCT Trail\, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific Coast\, as well as the Arctic Ocean.  \n\n\n\nAward-winning director and cinematographer Dianne Whelan is the only person to complete this epic journey of discovery—hiking\, biking\, paddling\, snowshoeing and skiing across the country. \n\n\n\nFor a woman in her 50s who is not an extreme athlete\, it was sometimes grueling\, occasionally harrowing\, often exhilarating and always surprising. She started out alone\, disillusioned with the state of the world and worried about climate change\, to look for different ways of caring for the land and each other.
