DESCRIPTION:NOW WITH OPENING ACT JAMES GRAY! \n\n\n\nMatthew recently recorded his 4th studio album in Sheffield\, UK\, and is set to release it in Fall 2024. Folk legend Martin Simpson produced this latest project\, which features instrumentation from some of the finest musicians on the English folk scene\, including Nancy Kerr\, Andy Cutting\, Liz Hanks\, James Fagan\, Louis Campbell\, and Ben Nicholls. Matthew Byrne’s previous two recordings each won Traditional Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards\, and his highly anticipated 4th recording will grab further attention from traditional audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. \n\n\n\nStorytelling through song is a fundamental duty of traditional music\, and Matthew Byrne does this brilliantly. His musical upbringing has shaped his repertoire\, and Byrne supports this tradition with powerful vocals\, polished guitar work\, and a presence that fills the room. \n\n\n\nWith parents who were both singers and song collectors and a strong family focus on sharing songs\, Byrne has inherited a unique repertoire and a fascination with unearthing and reimagining traditional songs. \n\n\n\n“I’m not a folklorist or ethnomusicologist\, at least not officially. And I’m not a purist. I’ve poured over the nuances of the pub standards as much as the obscure murder balladry. What attracts me to a traditional song is the right combination of melody and language\, which have always fascinated me.” \n\n\n\nBut Byrne is also a student of history whose love of traditional music goes well beyond the words and music. For him\, songs are ways of understanding people before him…their lives\, work\, language\, and worldview. \n\n\n\n“I see songs as sources of the past—windows into my own family history. Traditional music has always been the most important tool for me to understand where I come from and who I am. A unique finger style guitarist\, with a vocal that is hauntingly beautiful\, Gray\, often accompanied by a rather droll\, humorous stage patter\, immerses himself in each and every song with a soulfulness and attack that is infectious and disarming. \n\n\n\nJames has released three albums\, the most recent in 2023 entitled “New Friends That Talk Like Old Friends.” In 2019 James won himself a spot at The Mariposa Folk Festival through their showcase auditions. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Holiday Season with the Orillia Silver Band! \n\n\n\nSleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert \n\n\n\nThe Orillia Silver Band celebrates the holiday season with its traditional Sleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert.  The concert takes place on Sunday\, December 01\, 2024\, 2:00 pm at the Charles W. DESCRIPTION:VaughnCo Entertainment presents \n\n\n\nThe international touring band The Wildflowers are North America’s #1 Tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. \n\n\n\n“Who doesn’t love Tom Petty?” bassist Darryell Stone asked himself one day in 2012 while listening to the radio. There was only one answer he could imagine\, “Nobody.” Testing his hypothesis\, Stone polled friends\, family and fellow musicians how they felt about Petty. The result was always the same. Everyone loves Tom Petty. \n\n\n\nOne of these fellow musicians just happened to be Tom Petty’s doppelganger\, guitarist and lead vocalist Jonathan Guthrie. Guthrie was an avid fan and had always fantasized about being a Heartbreaker. As two seasoned musicians and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers fans\, there was really only one thing for them to do – form a Tom Petty tribute band. \n\n\n\nIt wasn’t hard for Stone and Guthrie to find skilled musicians excited about playing in a Tom Petty tribute band. Drummer Steve Lucas\, formerly of Feverdog and a bandmate of Stone’s local band\, Theatrix\, quickly signed on. Lucas brought with him his M-80’s band mate Glenn Freeman. Freeman\, who boasts of seeing multiple Tom Petty concerts in the 80s\, brought an instrumental cornucopia to the group with keyboards\, harmonica\, guitar and backing vocals. Lead guitarist Curt Granger rounded out the lineup. With 30+ year’s experience in Birmingham’s local music scene\, Granger has played in such circuit bands as Pyrate\, Scream Sophie\, and his own solo project\, as well as creating a line of world-renowned boutique guitar amplifiers. \n\n\n\nThe new Tom Petty tribute band rehearsed with one focus – to recreate the music of Tom Petty with precision\, attention to detail\, and a reverent respect. Parts were studied in great detail\, down to inflections in the very way each word of every lyric was sung. \n\n\n\nPerforming locally in the first year\, it didn’t take long for the band to be noticed. Word spread quickly\, which led to more shows outside the band’s home state\, which led to more word of mouth and exposure.
