SUMMARY:The Northwest Passage in Story and Song
DESCRIPTION:The Northwest Passage in Story and Song is a musical and spoken-word performance of original songs inspired by the sights and sounds of the Canadian Arctic\, its history and its contemporary realities. Combining photography\, storytelling\, and live original songs\, this performance conveys the emotional and spiritual impact of Arctic travel. \nSinger-songwriter David Newland is an expedition host and Zodiac driver who has made multiple trips to the Canadian Arctic\, Labrador and Greenland. Born in Ottawa\, raised on the shores of Georgian Bay near Parry Sound\, David crisscrossed Canada and travelled the world before settling in Cobourg\, Ontario.  Along with his backing band\, Uncharted Waters (Sam Allison\, Saskia Tomkins\, and Steafan Hannigan) he presents a stirring\, evocative musical vision of the mythic Arctic. Special guests Siqiniup Qilauta / Sunsdrum bring a dynamic presence to the stage\, sharing contemporary and traditional Inuit culture by way of throat-singing\, drum-dancing and Arctic games

Born on the shores of Hubbards Nova Scotia\, the idea for Cove & The Current was born when band founder Joel Stewart took to the beach for a three-day jam session with local musicians\, howling late into the Atlantic night. Joel thought to bring to life the feelings of those late night Hubbards Beach jam sessions to lay the foundation in which Cove & The Current has become.

DESCRIPTION:After 18 albums\, countless awards and wowing sold‐out audiences around the globe\, THE LEGENDARY DOWNCHILD BLUES BAND are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year with a brand‐new show featuring hits like “Flip\, Flop & Fly\,” as well as fan favourites and hidden gems from throughout their illustrious career. \nDownchild came to international prominence as the inspiration for Hollywood stars Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi’s hit film\, The Blues Brothers. In fact\, two Downchild songs\, “Shotgun Blues” and “(I Got Everything I Need) Almost” were even covered on The Blues Brothers’ 1978 multi‐platinum album Briefcase Full of Blues. \nThe band is lead by founder\, Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh on guitar and harmonica\, singer Chuck Jackson\, who also plays harmonica\, tenor sax man Pat Carey\, Michael Fonfara (who was a member of the early American rock supergroup Rhinoceros and Lou Reed’s band) plays keyboards\, Gary Kendall on bass and drummer Mike Fitzpatrick. \nWith their signature jump‐blues style and infectious\, soulful sound\, Juno Award winners Downchild deliver a live performance that is second to none\, and this special\nanniversary show is one ‐ not to be missed!
