The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame and Town of Parry Sound invites you to an evening of free family fun featuring movie Hockey Night filmed right here in Parry Sound. Come early and enjoy an opportunity to put your chess skills to the test with International Master Brian Hartman, and visit the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame.

6PM – Free Film: Hockey Night
What’s a girl to do when her family moves to Parry Sound where “fun hasn’t been invented yet?” And where there is no girl’s hockey team? For Cathy Yarrow, the answer’s simple: strap on her goalie pads and try out for the boy’s all-star team.
Take a journey through Parry Sound past and see if you can find familiar faces in this 1984 made for tv movie starring Megan Follows, Rick Moranis, and Yannick Bisson.
4 – 6 PM – Free admission to the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame creates a story that resonates with audiences across all ages and interests. Engage in the legacy of Bobby Orr through the themes of sports, values, and community. Redesigned in 2023, this is an opportunity to walk through new interpretations and exhibits.
5-6 PM – A Test of Strategy: Chess Challenge featuring International Master Brian Hartman
International Chess Master Brian Hartman will play up to 25 games at once, moving from board to board as participants take their turn in a lively, welcoming setting. Whether you’re an experienced player or looking for a unique chess challenge, this is a rare opportunity to play against a nationally recognized competitor and enjoy the excitement of high-level chess up close.

Brian Hartman is a Canadian International Master who began playing chess at age 16 and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the Hamilton Open at 17 (1974). Over a distinguished competitive career, he captured the Canadian Open title (1985), represented Canada as a Chess Olympiad team member (1984), and later served as Canadian Chess Olympiad Captain (2004). Hartman was Canadian Championship runner-up three time (1984,1987,1992), won the Ontario Championship five times in the 1980s, and earned over 30 tournament victories across Canada and the United States. Most recently, he claimed the Canadian Senior Championship in 2023. He hold the International Master title, the level immediately below International Grandmaster.
