Film at The Stockey: Three Waters
August 17, 2022 @ 7:00 pm
In 2019, Scott Parent and his 9 year old daughter Acadia set out on a 500km journey to trace their ancestral roots and to take water samples for deep water contamination research.
A mission into the heart of Lake Huron, Three Waters traces Scott and Acadia’s unsupported stand up paddleboard journey from Drummond Island in the US to Penetanguishene – following the migration of their Metis ancestors in 1828. The paddlers take deep water samples along the route to be analyzed for microplastics research. On the many remote and hazardous stretches of shoreline and open water, they discover things even deeper about themselves and our relationship to the fragile and changing Great Lakes environment.
Three Waters was produced with the support of the Georgian Bay Land Trust’s King Family Bursary.
Join us for its Parry Sound premiere on August 17th at 7pm at The Stockey Centre. Admission is free but donations at the door are appreciated. The event will feature general seating.
