Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue Live

The Stockey Centre and the Festival are partnering to present the first LIVE concert at the Stockey Centre since the COVID-19 pandemic shut the doors in March. Tickets to the live event are limited. Strict COVID-19 health protocols will be in full force and effect. This concert will also be live-streamed simultaneously for those who are unable or choose not to attend in person.

This LIVE (and virtual) concert will take place on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 7:30 PM and will feature George Gershwin’s phenomenal Rhapsody in Blue among many other incredible pieces, all performed by a number of our most beloved Festival Artists including Jamie Parker, Guy Few, Mark Fewer, and James Campbell!
James Campbell, Artistic Director of the Festival of the Sound, had this to say about this exciting announcement: “Music is meant to be performed and heard live, and I can’t tell you how excited we are to be able to bring spontaneous music back to the wonderful acoustics of the Stockey Centre, now considered the musical home to hundreds of Canadian musicians.”

ABOUT FESTIVAL OF THE SOUND: The Festival of the Sound is Canada’s premiere classical summer music festival. Now in its 41st year, the Festival takes place for three weeks annually in July and August in Parry Sound, Ontario. Due to COVID-19, our summer home, the performance hall at the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts was closed in March. In support of safety for all in these unprecedented times, the Festival is taking a sabbatical in 2020. The Festival of the Sound has been a Festival & Events Ontario Top 100 award recipient for the last 5 years.
ABOUT THE STOCKEY CENTRE: The Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts, located in Parry Sound, Ontario, houses the 400-seat Festival Performance Hall and the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame on a 3.5-acre waterfront site overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. The building opened on July 18, 2003, and runs year-round, presenting artists of excellence and celebrating athletes of excellence. The Festival of the Sound presents its annual chamber music festival in the Stockey Centre’s resonant Festival Performance Hall every July and August.
